Nicholas Gotsell 

Master of the High Court

Nicholas studied towards an LL.B degree through the University of South Africa whilst working as a Judge’s Registrar at the Western Cape High Court. Prior to this, he served as a Clerk of the Court at both the Wynberg and Cape Town Magistrates’ Courts. Nicholas is an admitted attorney with right of appearance in the High Court.

He joined De Klerk & Van Gend Inc, Cape Town in 2011, where he served two years articles of clerkship and was subsequently appointed as an Associate, now heading up their Wills & Estates Department.

    Shekesh Sirkar

President - Labour Court and Industrial Relations, Legal Practice Bill; Legal Services Charter

Shekesh was admitted to practice as an attorney in 2000 after serving articles at Herold Gie Attorneys.  He is the Chief Executive Officer of Herold Gie Attorneys and practises in the firm’s Employment and Public Law department. Shekesh is president of the Cape Town Attorneys Association and is responsible for its Labour Court and Industrial Relations, Legal Practice Bill & Legal Services Charter portfolios.

Shekesh specializes in administrative law and in all aspects of employment law, representing state organs and private institutions, and both employers and employees. He also practises in the area of professional negligence and ethics, representing certain professional bodies.

    Randall Titus

Vice-President and Secretary High Court

Randall Titus practises for his own account in the city under the style Randall Titus & Associates. He was admitted as an attorney in 1993. Randall concentrates primarily on general commercial law and litigation matters. On the Cape Town Attorneys Association, Randall shares its High Court portfolio with Amanda Catto. He is also a member of the High Court committee of the Cape Law Society and a member of the Provincial Integrated Case Flow Management Committee chaired by the Judge President.

In recent years, Randall has also become involved in the affairs of the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. He is the Deputy Chairperson of the Children’s Hospital Trust; the fundraising arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. Randall is also a keen cyclist doggedly striving to break the ever-elusive sub 3 hour barrier for the Argus Cycle Tour. He is married to the ever-patient Jacqueline.

    Amanda Catto

Treasurer - High Court

Amanda was appointed as a partner of Bowman Gilfillan in March 1999. She has practised exclusively in Family Law since 1995. In 2007 Amanda, together with her partners Anton Neethling and Grant Wiid, established a boutique family law practice, Catto Neethling Wiid Inc.

Amanda is a family law mediator and was a founding member of FAMAC. She is furthermore a longstanding member of the Law Society of South Africa’s Specialist Committee on Gender Law and is a member of the Cape Law Society’s Specialist Family Law Committee and High Court Committee. Amanda is a past president of the Cape Town Attorneys Association and shares the High Court portfolio in the Cape Town Attorneys Association with Randall Titus.  Amanda is a member of various working groups which give input into the case flow management of the Western Cape High Court and the Western Cape Regional Courts. Amanda is a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and guest lecturer and external examiner at the University of Cape Town Law Faculty.

    Graham Bellairs

Magistrate's Court

Graham Bellairs was admitted to practise as an attorney in 1983 and practised for many years as head of the Collections Department at the law firm then known as Sonnenberg Hoffmann & Galombik.  In September 1999 he established his own practice and was subsequently joined by Gordon Solomons with whom he now practices in partnership.

Graham’s field of practice is largely debt recovery and civil litigation in the Magistrate’s Courts.  He also serves on the Magistrate’s Court Committees of the Cape Law Society and Law Society of South Africa.  He is presently a Councilor on the Cape Law Society and member of the Rules Board. Graham is a past president of the Cape Town Attorneys Association and is responsible for the Magistrates Court portfolio of the Cape Town Attorneys Association.

    Stephan Le Roux

Master's Office / Deeds Office

Stefan practices as a director in the property department of Herold Gie Attorneys.  He specialises in all aspects of Property Law including drafting of agreements of sale, tax implications and planning, subdivisions, property finance, developments, sectional titles.  For the past 3 years Stefan headed the Deeds Office portfolio of the Cape Town Attorneys Association and is now responsible for the Master’s Office portfolio.

He has acted as a part-time lecturer for Unisa in the past, as a news reader for the Cape Town based classical radio station, Fine Music Radio (FM 101.3).  In addition, Stefan is admitted to the non-practicing role of Solicitors of the Senior Courts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  He is also a member of the Academic Advisory Council of the Future Excellence Design Institution of South Africa (FEDISA).

    Daniel Fyfer

Deeds Office

Daniel was admitted as an attorney in 2004 and is a director in the Real Estate Department of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr.  He specialises in all aspects of commercial property practice, in general residential conveyancing, sectional title, mortgage bonds and town planning Daniël is also actively involved in presentations and training to various institutions regarding developments in South African property law.

After completing his articles and becoming an associate, Daniel headed up the property portfolio at the Attorneys Association of the Southern Suburbs, Cape Town, representing attorenys in all aspects of property law, including the Deeds Office Committee, the City of Cape Town Municipality, and the South African Revenue Services. He is now responsible for the Deeds Office portfolio of the Cape Town Attorneys Association, along with Stefan Le Roux.

    Kaanit Abarder

Corporate Law and Tax Law

Kaanit Abarder is a director at ENS (Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs) and has 11 years experience. He currently practises as an attorney in the litigation/dispute resolution department. He specialises in commercial and general litigation for corporates, development banks, and property developers and is closely involved with opinion work in various litigious matters.

Kaanit joined the Association as a Committee Member in April 2012 and is responsible for its Corporate and Tax Law portfolios.
